An idea shared over drinks. A village filled with music.
And many summers to remember.

A face at the heart of our story.
Andreas “Res” Kunz is the founder and driving force behind Schützi Open-Air Fahrwangen. What began within the Lotto Club in 2000 still brings people and music together today.
A love of music and friendship has been at the heart of Schützi from the very beginning.
How it all beganMusic and friendship go hand in hand at Schützi. They have done ever since that first evening in the Schützenstube car park.

After the restaurant changes hands, the third edition moves to the sports hall grounds in Fahrwangen. The facilities are a great fit. Thomas Bucheli presents the programme in 2002; in 2003, even the Meteo weather forecast is broadcast from the festival grounds.
The fifth edition defies the rain. Memorable performances follow: Angy Burri & the Apaches in 2004 and 2005, Ray Fein & Friends in 2006, Jeff Turner in 2007 and Les Sauterelles in 2008.
Suzi Quatro comes to Fahrwangen for the tenth Schützi. For the first time, the festival runs for two days – with great success.
Matchbox, The Sweet, Spider Murphy Gang and Mungo Jerry take to the stage. John Lees’ Barclay James Harvest plays at the 15th Schützi. Local bands remain an important part of the programme.
Les Sauterelles return in 2015, joined by Paul Etterlin. In 2016, Boney M. feat. Liz Mitchell fulfils a long-held wish of the organising team. Chris Roberts is also on the bill.
Middle of the Road and Phil Bates performing the music of Electric Light Orchestra make 2017 memorable; Smokie follows in 2018. The 20th Schützi in 2019 welcomes Ten Years After, ABBA 99 and Suzi Quatro once again.
Schützi has to be cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic. It returns for its 21st edition in 2022 with Dr. Feelgood, the Saragossa Band and many more acts.
Guests in 2023 include QL and Münchener Freiheit. Matchbox, The Rubettes feat. Alan Williams and six other acts follow in 2024.
The 24th edition introduces a new mobile stage. Swiss acts take centre stage on both evenings, from Fake it and the JB Ramblers to George & The Midnight Special and Bünzlikrachers.
Eight acts are on the bill for the anniversary on 24–25 July, including Nickless, Schmätterstilz and Suzi Quatro. DJ Super Mario plays between the live performances.
From Tinto and Eric Lee to the 2026 anniversary.
